The Catholic Artists Society is pleased to announce a special event for our members, patrons and friends…
In conjunction with the New York Purgatorial Society, the CAS will sponsor a Solemn Requiem Mass (Traditional Roman Rite) on Thursday, November 29th at the Church of St. Agnes in New York City. The setting for the Mass will be Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem (opus 48), sung by The Schola Cantorum of St. Agnes, led by organist and choirmaster James Wetzel. The Society invites you to join in assisting at this Mass, which will be offered for the repose of the souls of our deceased family members, friends, colleagues and the Holy Souls in Purgatory. In keeping with the Church’s tradition, we encourage our members to pray for the dead throughout the month of November. This is a rare chance to hear Fauré’s stunning Requiem Mass in its entirety, in the liturgical setting for which it was written. The celebrant and homilist for the Mass will be Father Justin Wylie (Archdiocese of Johannesburg, South Africa). Father Wylie is currently attaché to The Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations. Father Michael Barone (Archdiocese of Newark) will act as deacon.
